Department of Biotechnology Department Highlights
  • The faculty at Department of Biotechnology creates knowledge and ideas that develop understanding. The program has been devised toprovide a highly academic environment that will create scientific talent capable of applying knowledge and equipped for industry/competitive exams/academics/research.

 

  • Faculty research projects also provide distinctive learning opportunities for students and prepare them to be inquisitive and thoughtful. Currently ongoing research projects that generated funds are:
  • Influence of phenylpropanoid derivatives on mungbean (Vigna radiata) funded under the DST Start-Up Scheme.
  • Unravelling host-pathogen interactions underlying disease development by velvet bean severe mosaic virus in medicinal plant Mucuna pruriensthrough transcriptome analysis funded by CSIR.

 

  • The Department of Biotechnology organized the following educational trips for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students during previous session:
  • CSIR – Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH), Chandigarh
  • National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali
  • Central Research Institute (CRI), Kasauli

 

  • The Faculty of Life Sciences organized a National Conference on “Emerging Trends in Host-Microbe Interactions” on 17th– 18thApril, 2015.
