Department of Electrical Engineering

At DAV University the Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 2013 with an aim to achieve excellence in academics by providing quality education to students and encourage them to reach the pinnacle of success. Electrical engineering is a field that usually deals with the study and application of electricity, power engineering, and electromagnetism. Since the inception department as gained prominence for its distinguished education leading ahead of colleges.

The Department has designed dynamic and focused curriculum to develop well-trained best manpower in Electrical Engineering for academic/industrial/defense/public sector as well as research. The Department also focuses on inculcating ethical and moral values in students. Students are also motivated to participate actively in seminars, symposiums, conferences, and workshops. The thrust area of the Department in R & D includes multi-disciplinary research in the fields of power system optimization, flexible AC transmission, electric drives and traction, neural computing, electrical machine, computational techniques and smart grid. The Department has six eminent and highly motivated faculty having research experience and in the current areas of power system optimization and the electric machine. There is continuous up-gradation of faculty and facilities for research and for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in electrical engineering and related fields. The Department has also taken initiative to design solar cell using multi ferrites nano-martial under a DST Funded project. The Department undertakes B. Tech. and M.Tech. courses.

The students are sent for Industrial Training/Industrial Tour to different National institutes, industries and electric utilities all over India during their course curriculum. This gives students the exposure and assurance to work in an industrial culture. Practical aspects of various subjects are supported by well-equipped labs such as DC machine laboratory, AC machine laboratory, power electronics laboratory, basic electrical, and electronics laboratory and measurement and instrumentation laboratory. An advanced simulation laboratory having 70 MATLAB user licenses with several toolboxes is also available for various graduate and post-graduate students. We, at DAV University, Jalandhar put our best efforts by educating the next generation of electrical engineers as a key role to prepare students for fundamentals in Electrical and Computational Technology keeping environmental aspects too in view.
