A noted administrator and academician, Prof. Desh Bandhu Gupta, has taken over as Dean Academics at DAV University, Jalandhar. Dr Desh Bandhu, who holds doctorate degree in commerce in addition to LLB, had been serving University of Jammu as Professor of Commerce since July 1998.

Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor Dr Rakesh Kumar Mahajan, Executive Director Sh Rajan Gupta and Registrar Dr Sushma Arya as he reached the university to assume the charge as Dean Academics. Dr Mahajan also conveyed him the best wishes of the Chancellor of the university and Padamshri Awardee, Dr Punam Suri. 

Prof. Desh Bandhu Gupta has held various other important positions in the course of his long career including positions as Dean Academic Affairs, Director College Development Council and Dean Business Studies at University of Jammu.

Known for having provided incisive academic and administrative guidance and leadership for the expansion of the university, Dr Gupta has also ensured quality and academic excellence in more than 150 affiliated government and non-government colleges.

He is also credited with introducing online admissions, structuring the Choice Based Credit system at UG and PG level and restarting Diploma in Marketing and Sales Management at the University of Jammu.

Prof Gupta, who has a vast experience in institution-building, was also the chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education and Controller of Examination, University of Jammu. He has visited various countries including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Nepal in connection with his academic programmes.
