Jalandhar, October 6

DAV University’s one-day workshop on “MATLAB and its Applications” showcased MATLAB’s immense potential and applicability to an audience ranging from beginners to those seeking a comprehensive review. The event, held on September 29, 2023, saw enthusiastic participation from more than 80 students.

Dr. Ram Jiwari delivering the lecture

Dr. Ram Jiwari, Associate Professor from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, was the workshop’s resource person. The workshop’s opening was marked by Dr. Manik Sharma, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science & Technology, who set the stage for an immersive learning experience.

The workshop’s hallmark was its dynamic and engaging format, offering attendees a treasure trove of insights into MATLAB. Designed to cater to a diverse audience, it provided both novice users and those in need of a comprehensive review an opportunity to embark on a journey towards mastering MATLAB’s intricacies.

Dr. R. K. Seth, Dean Science and Engineering addressing the participants

A key highlight of the workshop was the emphasis on empowering students to craft and deploy their numerical methods by leveraging MATLAB’s robust support for vector and matrix operations. This practical approach left participants not only with theoretical knowledge but also with the ability to apply their newfound skills in real-world scenarios.

Through interactive lectures and hands-on problem-solving sessions, participants gained a fundamental understanding of MATLAB, including its coveted toolboxes. Dr. Ram Jiwari's expert guidance started with the basics of MATLAB and seamlessly progressed into its myriad applications.

Students listening the lecture of MATLAB

Attendees explored various facets of MATLAB, including its utility in solving linear systems of equations, mastering differentiation and integration, tackling ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and partial differential equations (PDEs), and harnessing the power of fast Fourier transforms, quadrature, optimization, and linear programming.

Dr. Keshav Walia, Head of the R&D Cell, expressed his gratitude to key figures instrumental in organizing this successful academic initiative.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Manoj Kumar said that the students must learn new skills and keep pace with the technological changes the world over. Dr. R. K. Seth, Dean, Science and Engineering congratulated the organizers and students.
