Highlighting the details, the ideologue of Shiksha Mahakumbh and a ISRO senior scientist Dr Thakur Sudesh Kumar Raunija said that it would be an annual feature in association with the country’s premier institutions. Dr Sudesh stated that more than six lakh teachers, parents, students, industrialists, and scientists from across the country would participate in the online mode and about 15000 people would witness the event at the venue.

He said that the event will focus on promoting self-reliance, scientific temperament, and skill development in school education while addressing disparities in education through a national curriculum and the revival of the Gurukul system.

The event being organized under the aegis of Vidya Bharti will focus on promoting self-reliance through education, with a particular emphasis on developing a curriculum in mother tongue. One of the key goals of this event is to promote scientific temperament among school-going children.

The organizers are also advocating for a national curriculum to eliminate disparities in education. To that end, a massive task of drafting a national curriculum in all scheduled Indian languages has been undertaken, said Dr Suresh.

The event will also deliberate on the revival of the ancient and well-developed Gurukul system, with the goal of transforming the educational system of the country. The organizers believe that school education should be made more skill-intensive, and the event will discuss how to integrate elementary education with higher education, utilizing the infrastructure of institutions of higher education for the growth of school education.

Dr Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, DAV University highlighted that the university would implement the New Education Policy (NEP) from the coming academic session. The University aimed at empowering students with 21st-century skills. The Shiksha Mahakumbh will go a long way in this endeavour.

Mr Vijay Nadha, organizing secretary, Vidya Bharti, North Region, said that the first five editions of this Mahakumbh are dedicated to Punjab. He said that the district level teams have been formed to ensure the participation of every school and institution in the state.
