DAV University commemorates Constitution Day
November 26, 2022

DAV University on Friday commemorated the 73rd Constitution Day to mark the adoption of the constitution of India on November 26, 1949. The function was held under the aegis of the School of Law and Legal Studies, DAV University.

Addressing the students, the chief guest Shri Jaspreet Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, said that the Constitution Day celebrations were a tribute to the legends who worked tirelessly to give India its constitution. He highlighted that the constitution of India formally came into effect on January 26, 1950. The day is celebrated as the Republic Day of India. He also apprised the students that the Indian Constitution was the longest-written constitution in the world.

In her welcome address, Dr Kamaljeet Kaur Sidhu, Dean School of Law and Legal studies said that the Constitution had given citizens rights with responsibilities and duties. She said that the citizens should perform their duties and responsibility which automatically provide them rights.

The Vice-Chancellor Dr Manoj Kumar stated that the Indian Constitution was important for the existence of democracy and the integrity of the nation. The Executive Director of the University, Sh Rajan Gupta, advised that the people should be made aware of the provisions of the Constitution for the betterment of society.

The Registrar of the University Dr K.N Kaul accorded the vote of thanks.
