An alumnus of DAV University, Jalandhar, Sahil Dhiman, has been honoured with the Best MSc Thesis Award for his outstanding research in the field of Genetics and Plant Breeding. The award was presented to him at the 4th International Conference on “Innovations to Transform Agriculture, Horticulture & Allied Sectors”, a collaborative event organized by Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad, Institute for Sustainable Agriculture and Human Resource Development (ISAHRD), Chandigarh, and the Punjab - based Just Agriculture Education Group. The conference took place at Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad.
Sahil Dhiman’s thesis, “Plant Stress Bio-Markers during Vermiwash Mediated Salt Stress Amelioration in Horsegram (Macrotyloma unijlorum)”, was conducted under the expert guidance of Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, an esteemed Associate Professor in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at DAV University.
This groundbreaking research centered around the utilization of vermicompost derived liquid to mitigate the adverse effects of salt stress on a medicinal pulse crop commonly known as Kulthi in North India. The study sought to find sustainable solutions for improving the resilience of agricultural crops under challenging conditions.
Sahil Dhiman’s thesis project was part of a sponsored research initiative by DAV University, which was granted to his advisor, Dr. Ashutosh Sharma. Through his meticulous research and dedication, Sahil contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge in the domain of Genetics and Plant Breeding.
Sahil Dhiman has an exceptional academic record, having completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture and subsequently pursuing his postgraduation in M.Sc. Agriculture (Genetics and Plant Breeding) from DAV University, Jalandhar.
Following his academic pursuits, Sahil’s talent was recognized during the campus placement drive, where he secured a position with Bhatti Tissue Tech. Subsequently, he joined the esteemed multinational company Syngenta India as a Registration Coordinator, based at their office in New Delhi.
