DAV University Jalandhar in its pursuit to impart skill enhancement training to its budding female engineers, conducted an 18-day training session on “Cyber Security” in collaboration with ICT academy, sponsored by Honeywell- a CSR initiative. The objective of this session was to enhance the skill sets of the female candidates of B.Tech CSE, BCA, B.Sc. Computer Science and B.Sc. Mathematics and provide them with the necessary knowledge to embark on their technical journey. The training aimed to emphasize the importance of “Cyber Security”. The program began with a motivating speech by Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar, highlighting the academic and industrial efforts in imparting practical knowledge-based education to students and emphasizing the necessary skills they need to possess to succeed in their technical journey. He along with Dr. Arvind Mahindru (Coordinator, CSA) whole heartedly welcomed industry experts Mr. Abinandhan Pandey (State-head NCR, ICT Academy), Mr. Ravi Sharma (Manager Academic Operations) and Mr. Vishal Sharma (Expert Trainer, ICT Academy) with token of appreciation and expressed his gratitude for Industry-academia collaborated initiatives. The key note address was given by Mr. Abinandhan Pandey regarding the need of awareness about cyber security and cybercrimes and the preventive mechanism to be adopted by people at large to protect them from becoming victim to it. He also highlighted that cyber security is a concern for all modern organizations. The discussion covered various aspects of cyber security, including cyber threats, forms of cybercrime, cyber law, fraud, and hacking. The ICT academy presented a “Certificate of Membership” to Prof. Dr. Manoj Kumar. The session was concluded on a successful note in terms of generating awareness about cyber security and met its objectives.

International Conference on Machine Learning and Human computer Interaction Organized by Department of CSA
 
The Department of Computer Science and Applications at DAV University organized an International Conference on Machine Learning and Human-Computer Interaction (MLHCI 2023). The conference attracted experts and researchers from around the world. It provided a platform for participants to present their research, engage in discussions, and learn from their peers. It was a valuable opportunity to discuss the latest research findings and explore future directions in Machine Learning. The conference featured keynote speeches from renowned scholars in the field and presentations from researchers and practitioners. There were also poster sessions and workshops on specialized topics, providing opportunities for networking and collaboration.

 

The event covered a wide range of topics, including Machine Learning Algorithms, Deep and Transfer Learning, Applications of Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Environment Interactions, and Learning and Creativity. The participants praised the quality of the presentations, the organization of the event, and the opportunities for networking and collaboration. The proceedings of the conference are currently being prepared for publication in a reputable peer-reviewed journal, and the participants will be informed about the publication process in due course.

 

 

 

The CSA and CSE, DAV University departments are jointly organizing 3-day webinar series - 2023, entitled Quantum and cyber security.
 
For Session Held on 13/3/23.
 
The departments of CSA and CSE, DAV University is jointly organising 3-day webinar series - 2023, entitled Quantum and cyber security. This series is intended to make students aware of quantum computing and its Security aspects. The program also focuses on block chain technologies and related threats and breaches.

The first session of the series was conducted by Dr. Vimal Bhatia from IIT Ropar. He discussed the basics of Quantam Communications & optical networks.He also talked about optical networks and how a secured connection can be established. He explained various algorithms for implementing mobile edge caching in wireless networks He also gave a brief introduction to 5G networks and block chain technologies and how AI /ML can be used to solve the challenges in QKD networks.

The second session of the series was conducted by Dr. Deepak Singh Tomar from MNIIT, Bhopal. He explained the Application Security Attacks and Mitigation Techniques. He also focussed on various vulnerabilities involved viz., SQL Injection, etc. He demonstrated all the techniques with implementation.The first day of the series concluded by Dr. Arvind Mahindru, Coordinator (CSA) highlighting applications of blockchain technology and Network Security.

 

 

 

 

 

For Session Held on 14/3/23.
 
The third session of the series was presented by Dr. Shubhayan Sarkar, a post-doc from Stefano Pironio, Belgium. The talk focussed on the physics behind quantum non-locality and how its existence provides concrete proof that quantum theory is intrinsically different from classical theories. He also focussed on the recent applications of Quantum non-locality known as device-independent Quantum information" and its usage towards building highly secure quantum protocols.

The fourth lecture in the series was conducted by Dr. Manoj kumarfrom University of Wollongong,UAE. Dr. Manoj discussed the current threats in cyber security, He made the students aware about the taxonomy of cyber attacks and the enterprise cybersecurity domains. He further elaborated on the effect of today's public opinion about AI in it's mainstream adoption.  Finally. Dr. Arvind mahindru, Coordinator of CSA deptt. concluded the day with his  thoughtful words on relevance of quantum theory and cyber security.

 

 

 

For Session Held on 15/3/23.
 
The penultimate session of the series was conducted by Dr. Adarsh Kumar from the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies. The expert deliberated on the critical issues being faced by internet society currently viz, open worldwide app security project. He highlighted the various web penetration tools and techniques. He also made students aware of the top ten vulnerabilities affecting web security and the corresponding solutions. He also demonstrated the application of advanced technologies like blockchain in cyberspace.

The conclusion session of the series was delivered by Dr. K. Rajalakshmi from Jaypee institute of IT, Noida. The expert dissertated the basic blocks of IOT, security and privacy issues, and the role of blockchain technology in IOT. She also discussed various application areas of secured IoT. She figured out the open challenges and futuristic approach for secured IoT.

The webinar series, 2023 was finally concluded by Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of DAV University. He wrapped up the series by highlighting the students about the future and scope of web security. He also thanked the various experts of the webinar series who enlightened the students with the
underlying technologies and further future scope of Web Security.

 

 

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND APPLICATIONS; DAV UNIVERSITY ORGANIZED TWO AMAZING EVENTS TITLED AS "LAN GAMING” AND "TECHNICAL RANGOLI " on 11th March 2023.

Both of these events were effectively managed by the student coordinators. The student coordinators for Technical Rangoli event were Ankita Mehra, Rakshit, Anmol, Prabhbir Kaur and Kunal Singh. The student coordinators for LAN Gaming event were Jaskaran Singh, Jaskamal, Sanjeev, Prabhbir Kaur, and Shalini.

12 teams ( having four participants in each) participated in LAN gaming event, which included LAN Gaming, and 29 students took part in the Technical Rangoli competition.

DAV UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ATTENDED EXPERT TALK SESSIONS   
 
Department of Computer Science and Applications & Department of Computer Science and Engineering, DAV University, Jalandhar conducted an expert talk sessions on the topics titled- “IT Infrastructure and Technology” for final year students and “Full Stack Development” for final year and pre-final year students on March 10, 2023. The resource person of the session was Mr. Mukul Gujral, one of the esteemed employees of NIIT, Gurgaon. In the talk session held, around 100 students participated. In the first session, Mr. Mukul laid emphasis on the current technologies that are being used in the banking institutions & IT companies, its necessity & ways to enhance their skills concerning those technologies. In the second session, he mainly explained about full stack development- ‘a global industry requirement in the present era’ to increase the probability of students getting their dream job. The coordinators of CSA & CSE Department- Dr. Arvind Mahindru & Dr. Rahul Hans respectively, thanked the resource person for enlightening the students.  Honourable Vice Chancellor, DAV University, Professor Dr. Manoj Kumar also appreciated the event. 

 

 

 

 

 

DAV University Hosts Expert Talk on Brain Exercises for Stress Reduction
 
Expert discusses effective techniques for dealing with mobile addiction

Jalandhar, Feb 23

DAV University organized an expert talk on "Aasan Hai" focusing on Brain Exercise to reduce stress in students regarding exams, careers, and future. The event was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Applications (CSA) in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council.

The expert talk was led by Dr. Kavardeep Singh Bhatia, a professional Brain Trainer who has expertise in improving brain functions and reducing stress in individuals. During the session, Dr. Bhatia highlighted the importance of leading a stress-free life, which is essential for maintaining mental health and overall well-being. 

Dr. Bhatia shared live examples of how seemingly difficult tasks can be simplified and learned through fun-loving activities or games. He also motivated students to have a positive attitude in life, highlighting the importance of having big dreams and ways to attain them. He stressed the importance of giving 100% to our goals, which ultimately leads to our success.

One of the main topics of the talk was how to deal with mobile addiction, which has become a major concern for the youth today. Dr. Bhatia shared effective techniques to overcome mobile addiction and explained how to use technology to improve productivity and learning.

Dr. Bhatia demonstrated various brain exercises to improve concentration and focus, which are crucial for success in academics and careers. The expert talk was attended by a large number of students, faculty members, and other guests who appreciated Dr. Bhatia's insightful ideas and practical solutions to reduce stress and improve mental health.

The event Coordinator Mr. Gulshan Kumar and Department Coordinator Dr. Arvind Mahindru stated that provided valuable insights and practical solutions to reduce stress and improve mental health among students. Imbibing positive thinking, goal-setting, and brain exercises could go a long way to help students achieve their full potential and lead a fulfilling life.

 

 

 

DAV University organized an industrial Visit to Grazitti Interactive, PKL.
 
The objective was to introduce students to software, programming, architecture, designing, and testing domains. To get familiar with software development processes. Students first got presentations on Technologies /languages/processes used for developing then live demos of existing software, their working, marketing, life-cycle, testings, and pricing were given by the company. At last, all departments were visited by the students.

DAV University organized an industrial visit to Netplus broadband services Pvt. Ltd. for students of MCA and MSc on 11 February 2023. The visit was organized by the Department of Computer Science & Applications in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council under the supervision of Dr. Arvind Mahindru. The objective of the visit was to make students aware of real-time network management at the ISP level and have practical exposure to technology and the industrial environment. Students were made aware of how actually the internet works at the user level and the underlying technologies and topologies.

Students interacted with the officials of the organization. An interactive session was conducted and the scholars gained manifestations of real-time problems faced regarding network traffic management, idle time, and server-related issues at the zonal level.

Students also gained knowledge about the various certification courses and future career paths in the field of networking. The visit was coordinated by faculty members, Dr. Shaveta Chutani, Dr. Mukhtiar Singh, and Mr. Amit.

 

 

 

Webinar Series 2021 on “Evolving Technologies and Recent Trends in Computer Science 2021”

Department of Computer Science and Applications, DAV University, Jalandhar organized a Webinar Series on “Evolving Technologies and Recent Trends in Computer Science 2021” that commenced on 15-02-2021. Eminent academicians and researchers from across reputed institutions across the country enlightened the students with their vast knowledge and experience. Dr. A L Sangal, Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Dr. Harsh K Verma, Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dr. BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Dr Sandeep K Sood, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Dr. Lov Kumar, Assistant Professor, Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani and Dr Rohini Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Applications addressed the students on hot selling trends and technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Security, Machine Learning, Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence. The organizers plan to return with the second season of webinar series in 2022.

 

Alumni Meet 2021 (Online Mode)

Department of Computer Science and Applications, DAV University, Jalandhar organized a Virtual Alumni Meet on 20-05-2021. The meet was registered and attended by around 150 alumni from around the globe. Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Vice Chancellor inaugurated the meet and expressed happiness on overwhelming response from alumni. Several events were virtually organized; memories were shared through the videos followed by interaction of alumni with their peers and the faculty members. The meet was very well received and appreciated by the participants and was a resounding success.

 

"Tech Intellect 2021”

The Department of Computer Science & Applications and Department of Computer Science & Engineering (D.A.V University, Jalandhar) organized Tech Intellect on 8th - 9th Dec 2021. The event was a Technical one consisting of different Technical Events like IOT Project, Power Point presentation, Robo Race, Coding and Debugging etc. The Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi addressed the audience and gave best wishes for the event. More than 100 Students from different Universities participated in the events. The enthusiasm and excitement were visible on the faces of participants. All the event coordinators worked hard to make this event successful. The Valedictory ceremony started with the DAV Anthem. Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Vice Chancellor addressed and motivated all the participants. She also congratulated all the students for their sincere efforts. She further quoted that such an all round performance by students marks the persistence of a glorious future.

Computer Science and Applications Department; DAV University organized their fresher's party named "NOVATO FIESTA 2021"

To commence the new academic session and welcome the new comers DAV University CSA Department organized the Fresher’s Party titled NOVATO FIESTA 2021 for blossoms of the department. As the day was dedicated to the juniors they showcased their talent. Students including fresher’s & seniors gave amazing performances. The ambiance was electric during the performances.  Shubham, Anshika and Abhishek anchored the event & briefed the juniors that they have to perform a ramp walk & introduce their talent. On the basis of which  Aniket Raj (BCA 1st Year) and Sarita (BCA 1st Year) were selected Mr.& Miss Fresher, Vishal Ghai (MCA 1st Year) & Prabhbir Kaur Randhawa (MCA 1st Year) were selected Mr.& Miss Graduate, Yogesh (MCA 1st Year) & Ramandeep kaur (BCA 1 st Year) were given title of Mr. Handsome and Ms. Charming .

Ankita (MCA 1st Year) was given the Title of Ms. Beautiful.

Dr. Hiteshwari Sabrol (Coordinator of CSA Department) motivated students to work hard & concentrate on their goals to take the department on great heights. She also thanked the seniors who gave their day and night to make this party a success.
